Turtle Mountain

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Nestled on the scenic West side of Turtle Mountain, this stunning new home in Vernon boasts breathtaking views. The foundation, constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), ensures durability and energy efficiency, while a walkout basement maximizes usable space. Traditional framing, complemented by a sophisticated truss system, forms the structure, featuring airy 12′ ceilings in the living and dining areas. The exterior showcases a blend of siding materials, with Hardie plank siding painted to mimic real wood grain, and modern touches like board and batten and hardie panels with aluminum trim adding contemporary flair.

From the outset, this project presented distinctive challenges. With the ground predominantly solid rock, traditional excavation methods faced limitations. To sidestep the need for costly and time-consuming rock removal or blasting, an innovative plan was devised in collaboration with engineers. This solution preserved both the integrity of the structure’s energy efficiency and the project’s timeline, ensuring seamless progress without expensive excavation or delays.

The primary siding material utilized was composite cement plank siding, a tried-and-true option known for its durability. Elevating its visual appeal, a secondary company applied a sophisticated three-toned painting technique to mimic the rich texture of real wood grain. The end result is a resilient siding solution that not only withstands the elements but also exudes the timeless charm of authentic wood.
